Did I Do All I Could?

I was talking to a good friend the other day, who was contemplating a big move, and big shift. It was exciting. There was so much potential, and also unknown. There was so much to consider. One of the things that can leave us feeling stuck, or frozen in a time of transition is to contemplate: Did I do everything I was meant to do? Have I done all I could? These questions come up when we change jobs, or when the kids move out of the house. Or even when someone we love passes away. Did I do all I could?

We could imagine that Jesus, in all of his humanity, might have had the same sense with his disciples. In the latter chapters of Luke, Jesus was moving towards Jerusalem, moving towards his betrayal, and trial, and the cross. His face is set! And so the intensity continued to build as he talked to his disciples. These guys had been around him for a while now. They surely noticed the change in tone. The messaging seems somehow more urgent now. Is Jesus talking faster? Louder?
Here's what we can know for sure---Jesus wants to give his disciples everything they need for the mission ahead.
